Automation and
Access Control
Mining trucks or CAEX (Haul Trucks) play a crucial role in the mining industry. These mining giants are essential for the efficiency and productivity of large-scale operations. However, their use is not without significant challenges.
In the mining industry, automatic barriers play a fundamental role in the effective management of truck and other vehicle traffic. Their ability to regulate vehicle entry and exit ensures rigorous control in environments where safety is of utmost importance.

This solution integrates a two-way intercom system between the barrier and the dispatch room, allowing for smooth and secure communication. This not only enhances safety at crossings but also optimizes traffic management, contributing to more efficient and productive mining.
Objective
The challenge was to have an automated system to control the regulated crossing of autonomous mining vehicles, as well as to avoid high costs in civil works development (such as the construction of bypasses) through advanced technology to automate access control and crossings in autonomous fleets.
Solution
Our traffic control barrier solution, mechanized and automatically controlled, is activated by a detection algorithm that identifies the circulation of autonomous transport equipment (CAEX) near the vehicle crossing. These barriers always remain closed and are raised after validating the absence of vehicles on the route and upon request for opening by the driver of the vehicle wishing to cross the path.
Benefits
- Detects objects using a combination of radar and camera.
- Performs counting and identification of vehicles passing through the crossing via camera images or RFID (integrated with the database).
- Uses Advanced Video Analytics to identify mining trucks.
